CRNS Council
The CRNS Council oversees the business and affairs of CRNS, supervises its Management and gains reasonable assurance that all major issues affecting CRNS are given appropriate attention. It is accountable to the public to establish procedures for good corporate governance and to achieve CRNS’s mission/vision/mandate.
The Council provides an effective means of accountability for CRNS in matters of moral conduct, legal operation, financial controls and reporting of CRNS's results.
The 11-member CRNS Council consists of seven CRNS registrants and three government appointed public representatives and the college’s Executive Director (a non-voting position).
Council Members
CRNS Council Members are selected by a nomination process or appointed by the provincial government and serve three-year terms.
The CRNS relies on the active engagement of its registrants and the public. Registrants can develop their leadership skills by serving on the CRNS Council. Council members are expected to act in the best interest of the public and the organization, to openly engage and debate in Council meetings, and to respect all decisions made by Council.
Council Updates
The CRNS provides regular updates on council to its membership through both the President and Executive Director’s messages.
The CRNS President sends out updates to the CRNS membership on the outcomes of regular council meetings. In addition to ensuring members are aware of and engaged in any new governance decisions and plans, these updates also serve to educate members about emerging issues that may have an impact on their daily practice. The Executive Director’s Message serves to update membership on what’s new on the operational front.
Governance
The CRNS Executive Director (ED) reports to Council and is responsible for the overall management and leadership of CRNS in achieving its mandate of protecting the public by ensuring members are competent and act in the public interest. This includes strategic leadership of the organization, as well as setting and achieving organizational objectives agreed annually with Council. The Executive Director or their designate will act as the Secretary and Treasurer of the organization.
