From the Desk of the Executive Director

The Executive Director’s message is issued on an as needed basis and communicates operational updates and day-to-day news from the CRNS. This message is distributed to all members of the CRNS as developments occur.

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I bring you this update. I'd like to express our sincere appreciation for all of your hard work. I hope you can take some time to delight in the joys of summer.

See below for a few updates on the year thus far!

Alinity

The CRNS is in the process of transitioning to a new registrant database called Alinity, a system currently being used by a variety of health care and professional regulators across the country.

The new system will provide registrants with access to their CRNS online profile to complete applications for licensure and renewal, apply for exams, upload documents and engage in the continuing competence program. A strategic priority for the CRNS, the Alinity database will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our day-to-day operations to better serve the public and our registrants.

CRNS staff have been working closely with the Alinity team in preparation for a multi-phased roll out. The first phase is being released over the summer, with subsequent phases rolling out in the fall. In the first release, registrants will receive a welcome email with information on how to set up their account. Changes to the Verification of Licensure request form and the Nurse License Check will also be communicated.

We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through the implementation of this new system. Please watch for further updates over the next few months as the transition to Alinity continues.

License Renewal

The 2025 College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) yearly license renewal will open on September 24 and run until November 30, 2024.

Annual license renewal is an opportunity to reaffirm your commitment to the values of registered nursing. It is also required to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Registered Nurse with Additional Authorized Practice [RN(AAP)] in Saskatchewan.

We want to ensure that you are well-prepared for this process and have all the necessary information to proceed with your renewal smoothly. You will receive a “Welcome to Alinity” email with instructions on how to confirm your account and create a password in the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on your spam/junk mail to locate this email if it doesn't arrive in your inbox.

To complete the renewal form efficiently, each registrant should have:

  1. Your username: Registrant’s Email.
  2. Enter in your two-factor authentication code (sent to your email address on file (check your spam/junk folder if not received).
  3. The projected number of self-declared hours you will have worked in the 2024 registration year (December 1, 2023 – November 30, 2024). For more information, click here.
  4. Continuing Competence Program (CCP) completed for 2024.
  5. A credit card to complete online payment. Do not pay for your license if your employer pays on your behalf. The employer-paid period closes on October 16, 2024.

Get involved with the CRNS

We have a variety of ways for registrants and members of the public to get involved with the CRNS! Ready to give back?

To stay current on all CRNS business and updates, ensure info@crns.ca is whitelisted in your inbox.

In closing, I am proud of the important work that the CRNS team has accomplished so far, and I look forward to what’s to come.

Regards,

Cindy Smith, RN (she/her)
