Legislation & Scope
Understanding Legislated Scope of Practice
Registered nursing in Saskatchewan is regulated by The Registered Nurses Act, 1988, commonly referred to as the legislated scope of practice. CRNS registrants must understand and adhere to their scope of practice, evaluating their own competency within it. They must also follow employer policies, recognizing that employers can limit but not expand their scope. When assessing activities, the client's best interest in their environment is paramount.
